Warranty Writer/Service Clerk

Job Description
This job requires high organizational ability to provide systematic paper flow through the service department. A qualified individual must be adept with figures and be able work with all departments in the business. They must have a detailed understanding of mechanical terms. Complete, accurate, and efficient work will be expected for this position. This position reports to the Service Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

  • The Warranty Writer/ Service Clerk maintains accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service function of the dealership.
  • Handles warranty claims for all brands including computation of charges for shop work.
  • Handle warranty registrations and transfer of owners.
  • Return and track warranty recalls.
  • Makes sure warranty claims are processed promptly and forwarded to supplier.
  • Send out end of warranty notice.
  • Prepare shortage reports on any wholegoods item and file necessary claims with manufacturer.
  • Handle Service Department filing and records.
  • Act as liason between Parts and Service Department.
  • Plan parts requirements in advance with service personnel. Twice a day or as needed make rounds of service area; and prepare parts requisitions for known requirements while on these rounds.
  • Pick parts and ensure parts requisition follow-up (coordinate with parts department.)
  • Maintain service library with up-to-date bulletins and manuals under direct supervision of Service Manager.
  • Works with the Service Manager in all phases of the service department in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Service Manager.
  • Be able to handle inquires regarding equipment status for service customers.
  • Works in coordination with Parts, Office, Sales and Management as needed.
  • Be able to assist in Parts Department if necessary.
  • Promote Koletzky Implement in a professional manner at all times.
