Mount Marty University, a Catholic liberal arts university in the Benedictine tradition, is accepting applications for a full time, tenure track position beginning fall 2023. The successful candidate will have a Master of Music, Master of Fine Arts or equivalent degree with a PhD preferred, along with a commitment to undergraduate teaching and commitment to the mission of Mount Marty University. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified to teach Music Theory, Music History, Conducting and Applied Voice. Additional course teaching load will be based on student need and/or area of expertise. Piano proficiency is a plus but not required. An understanding of Catholic liturgy and traditions preferred.
The successful candidate will also lead a small department as chair, serve as Director of Choral Activities (Choral Union, Chamber Choir, and Smooth Benediction acapella group) and provide music direction for one musical theatre production each year, produced in cooperation with the theatre department. The Director of Choral Activities is also expected to assist in liturgical music on campus, recruit prospective music students, and promote music events. The highlights of the rich music tradition at the university include a Christmas Vespers concert, participation in the ICCA regional competition, and an annual regional tour.
