Club Tutor Lead Teacher

The Club Tutor Teacher is responsible for supervising their Assistant(s) and ensuring the 5 key elements of positive youth development are implemented in their daily interactions with youth. The Club Tutor Teacher is also responsible for the supervision of the program areas and employees as specifically assigned to her site. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club will be expected to uphold the mission of the Club.

  • Ensure the implementation of the program schedule at your assigned site
  • Ensure tracking of attendance occurs.
  • Plan academic enrichment programming and do any daily updates or emails.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date in at your site.
  • Assist youth with homework or special projects.
  • Assist with youth having behavioral challenges and ensuring success plans are followed.
  • Create the master plans for assigned spaces each trimester.
  • Communicate with Education Director any issues you are having or any details on the youth/families that could help us serve them better.
  • Supervise assigned Assistants, which includes writing 60 day reviews, performance plans, and holding bi-weekly one on one meetings.
  • Ensure assigned staff implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
  • Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good character.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Commitment to working four days a week
  • Commitment to make class schedule for upcoming semester meet the scheduling needs of the Boys & Girls Club (if applicable)
  • Commitment to working at the Club during the summer
  • Must be able to work within the operating hours of the Club (listed below)
    • 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM Monday through Friday
  • Must be able to work within the summer operating hours of the Club (listed below)
    • 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Must be able to understand, implement, and demonstrate principals of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
  • Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to assigned employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principals of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.

  • Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, etc. at the Club to ensure safety of the space and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals
  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift
  • Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.
