Executive Director:

Summary: This employee is responsible for daily operations of the Southeast South Dakota Area Health Education Center (SESD AHEC), working closely with SESD AHEC Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans to meet the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization. This employee will ensure programs and projects are managed in a fiscally responsible manner to meet specific grant and programmatic requirements. Employee is responsible for identified outcomes related to grant/program requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining excellence in quality of services provided, ensuring all Federal, State, and local laws are observed. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the SESD AHEC maintains a strong financial position to ensure the sustainability of the organization.


Education/Licensure: Masters degree in healthcare administration or business, or commensurate experience in business and/or healthcare. Continuing education is required to stay abreast of healthcare trends, sales, marketing, and regulatory changes.

Experience: Prefer individual with a variety of experiences in healthcare, grant writing, business or administrative and sales-related settings. Individual should have management experience. Individual must be computer literate and be able to use Quickbooks, and Microsoft products including Excel.  Excellent public speaking skills required.

Skills/Abilities: Individual must have strong oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to read and interpret documents, correspondence, contracts, and manuals. Individual must be organized and have the ability to take a project from inception to completion. Individual must be able to speak effectively before groups of stakeholders or employees of the organization. Individual will have the ability to use basic and advanced mathematical concepts including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to compose and interpret graphs. Position 
requires the ability to deal with multiple problems involving several variables in a variety of situations. Employee is required to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use fine and gross motor skills. The employee may be required to bend, twist, push, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Considerable time is spent using the telephone and a keyboard.

Travel: Moderate travel is required predominantly in South Dakota; some out of state travel will be necessary. Employee must maintain a current SD driver's license and possess current vehicle liability insurance.

Work Environment: Employee may be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a healthcare environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Expectations: Employee is expected to maintain confidentiality when dealing with all stakeholders. Employee is expected to utilize effective problem-solving skills as appropriate and model professional behavior at all times when representing SESD AHEC. Employee will convey enthusiasm and sincere support for SESD AHEC and its services to all stakeholders.
Employee will support the mission and vision of SESD AHEC to stakeholders, co-workers and peers in the communities we serve. Employee must be flexible to change and have the ability to work in a team environment. Employee is required to comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and applicable standards for the profession represented. Employee will strive to coordinate workflow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment. Employee is consistently attentive to SESD AHEC fiscal/budgetary expectations. Employee is expected to attend training and education to maintain a high level of professional proficiency in their work. Employee must display appropriate time management. Grooming, communications skills, and dress must portray a professional demeanor.
 
  ESSENTIAL DUTIES  
1. Maintain and build positive relationships and business opportunities
  • With current stakeholders, and work to develop new relationships
  • With allied organizations such as SDEA, SDHCA, SDAHO, the State of SD, and USD Sanford School of Medicine AHEC Program Office
  • With healthcare professions students and professionals
  • With co-workers
 
2. Oversee and perform Key business functions:
  • Administration oversight
  • Business oversight
  • Personnel oversight
  • Financial oversight
  • Programmatic oversight
  • Attend national meetings as directed
 
3. Execute the Work Plan outlined in the AHEC Grant Application
  • Work with USD SSOM AHEC Program Office to support programs within the post-secondary and continuing education areas of focus
  • Work with post-secondary education facilities in South Dakota to place healthcare careers students into rural rotations, internships, externships, etc. within the scope of the AHEC grant coordinating activity to blend with the REHPS Program
  • Work to support Rural Healthcare Practices as outlined in the AHEC grant work plan
 
4. Develop additional programming opportunities for the Southeast SD AHEC in the identified service area
  • Work to develop community-based programs to enhance recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals in communities
  • Work to develop cutting edge programs to meet the education needs of healthcare professionals practicing in rural and frontier areas of the service area
 
5. Other
  • Develop marketing material and social media marketing plan
  • Oversee website maintenance
  • Respond to stakeholder inquires in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
 

Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 Year Will discuss with applicant
Positions include insurance, paid time off and 401K match.
 
We maintain a suite of offices in Yankton. The position will have the option to work remotely in South Dakota.
