Head Custodian -Stewart School

Hours: 7 am - 5 pm, off 1-3 pm. With extra cleaning, 9 hours a day may be needed.
 
 
Wage: Base wage of $17.50 per hour. Wage is commensurate with experience.
 
 
JOB TITLE: Level IV, Custodian III (Head Custodian)
 
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A custodian with the skills and ability to perform housekeeping and maintenance duties in a given building area. Must have the ability to act as a building staff foreman under the supervision and direction of the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
 
A. Education Level:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
 
B. Experience Desired:
Three to six months related experience or training
 
 
C. Physical Requirements:
Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing and stooping. Occasional climbing, crawling and reaching.
 
 
D. Other Requirements:
Must possess a positive attitude and a willingness to work with others.
 
 
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
 
 
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Principal
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: (other duties may be assigned)
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums classrooms, hallways, stairs and office space.
  • Monitors HVAC system.
  • Weekend building checks.
  • Schedules custodial services for events
  • Empties school trash and garbage containers.
  • Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
  • Replaces air conditioner filters.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk.
  • Communicates with Building Principal for daily activities.
