PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the department Supervisor/Team Lead perform a variety of tasks related to the painting and finishing details in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Details are dependent on duties assigned in general consist of the following:

Prepare surfaces of parts and equipment to be painted using brushes, scrapers, solvents, air grinders/sanders, etc.

May apply tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated

May mix and prepare paint materials for use

Paint parts and equipment in accordance with Quality Control and job order specifications

Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface when needed

Transport and set up parts and equipment including paint booths

Operate, maintain, and use personal protective equipment and other safety supplies and equipment

Perform sandblasting duties as required

Perform or assist in other assigned duties/areas as qualified

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with the company policies relating to safety, housekeeping and Hazardous Waste Management programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Suggest and implement improvements. Follow up on details. Seek out productive work when assignments are completed. Actively participate in continuous improvement for our products and process to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability.
Equipment: Tools, safety (metatarsal) shoes, safety glasses/goggles, gloves and other PPE as needed.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, standing for extended periods, lifting multiple pounds regularly, use wrist motion; reach above/below shoulders, step up/down, bend/stoop, twist, squat/crouch, kneel or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Essential Skills: Perform work standing on concrete a minimum of 8 hours up to 10 hours per day. Willingness to train or work during hours outside of scheduled shift. Must have regular and reliable attendance. Perform work safety in accordance with all company safety policies, procedures and PPE requirements.
