Those fun and loving Rubber Duckies are gearing up for another exciting event again this year on July 25th. The Yankton Kiwanis Club and Yankton County Parents as Teachers are sponsoring the 10th Annual Duck Pluck again this year at the Memorial Park Pool area. The Kiddie Carnival will begin at 6:00 pm followed by the Lucky Duck Pluck at 7:00 pm. ?Family friendly activities fit perfectly into the Parents as Teachers mission of family well-being. We encourage families to explore community events and activities to build quality time as a family," stated Carie Jo Ahlgrim, Educator/Coordinator of Yankton County Parents as Teachers.
The theme for this year?s Kiddie Carnival is summer and beach fun. For the children?s lucky duck carnival game, children can purchase a rubber ducky for $1.00 at the carnival and those ducks will be dumped into the kiddie pool. There will be prizes for first, second and third place for whose lucky duck is plucked. All other carnival game tickets will be sold at the events for .25 cents each. The carnival is held near the kiddie pool.
Yankton County Parents as Teachers and the Yankton Kiwanis club are again partnering for this event with the goal to raise funds for their uniquely different programs but with the common cause of the youth of Yankton. The Motto of the Kiwanis is ?Serving the Children? and they do that through donations to many youth programs including: Yankton Boys and Girls Club, Torch Club, Math and Science Awards, Yankton Ice Association, Yankton Figure Skating, Science Olympiads, and Boys and Girls State. Yankton County Parents as Teachers provides home visits to families with children from prenatal to school age. Their vision is that all families will have the ability to provide a strong developmental foundation for their children. Parents as Teachers is a United Way Partner Agency.
