New Exhibit: Sit On It

Description

Learn about the history of Yankton County and Dakota Territory through the piece of furniture we use on a daily basis. Often taken for granted, the chair can be so much more than just something we use for rest.  This temporary exhibit will feature chairs brought to America on steamships with immigrant families, used in the governance of Dakota Territory and its capital city, and chairs which serve several functions. ?This exhibit will feature chairs from the Dakota Territorial Museum historic collection.

Sit On It opens on February 1st, 2022 and be on display through March 31, 2022.

The Mead Cultural Education Center is located at 82 Mickelson Drive in Yankton.
Admission is $8 for adults $5 for Seniors and $5 for children (0-17)
