15th Annual Economic Outlook Seminar

With all that has happened over the past year and a half, South Dakota's economy is something of a miracle.  Sectors of the economy ravaged by a pandemic, survival credited to sheer determination of business owners and a productive workforce, moderation by state and local leaders and bolstered by transfers from the Federal Treasury.

Join the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the 15th annual Economic Outlook Seminar on Tuesday, October 5, 3-6 PM, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  Registration is $50 for in person attendance and $30 for online viewing. 
 
Joseph Santos, Ph.D., will present his fourth annual update on the economy and address concerns currently on everyone’s mind such as inflation and factors that will affect the rate and duration, supply chain issues and their effect on pricing, and the impact of workforce and wage pressures.   
 
Professor Santos is the Dykhouse Scholar in Money, Banking and Regulation in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University.  Santos will provide his expert perspective to complex issues in understandable and useful terms.
 
Jodi Schwan, founder of SiouxFalls.Business and Pigeon605, will present the highly anticipated results of her quarterly CEO survey and bring her professional skills to the role of emcee. 
 
Schwan will also moderate and lead the discussion for this year’s featured manufacturing panel of leaders from Bell, Inc., Sioux Falls; Falcon Plastics, Brookings; Showplace Wood Products, Harrisburg; and the newly announced Sioux Falls pork processing plant owned by Wholestone Farms.  Each will offer their experiences and perspectives on topics including supply chain issues and managing future pricing structures, workforce challenges, the impact of legalized marijuana and workforce housing.
