Instructor Bio:
Julie Younkin is an experienced trainer and certified coach with over 20 years of leadership experience. Julie has lead several operations managing contracts for Fortune 500 clients like Sprint, Oracle and American Express. She has delivered long-term leadership development and coaching initiatives to Met- Life and Nationwide sales and service teams
Through her work with Northeast Community College, she has championed several leadership training strategies that have assisted organizations in developing leaders at all levels. The ‘servant leader’ and ‘leading versus managing’ are at the core of her work as a leadership coach and trainer. She is a certified coach and trainer and resides in Central Nebraska
Course Description:
Note: Students will be sent an email with a link to complete the DISC Assessment on November 5th with a deadline to have it completed by November 12th.

• DISC Behavior Styles assessment to measure behavior

• Improve productivity, leadership skills and communication
• Facilitate better teamwork and minimize team conflict
• Manage more effectively by understanding the dispositions and priorities of employees and team members
• Better Communications
o Art of questioning
o Listening roadblocks
December 3rd: Yesterday’s Peer- Tomorrow’s Leader (live-streamed)
• Accepting your new role and all that it entails
• Establish appropriate boundaries in your relationships
• Identify successful communication strategies
• Avoid common mistakes new supervisors make
December 17th: Brainstorming & Problem Solving (in-person)
• Brainstorming vs. problem solving
• Critical thinking process for problem-solving and decision making
• Root cause analysis
• SWOT analysis
January 7th: Conflict Management (live-streamed)
• Root cause discovery
• Learn how to establish a resolution process
• How to manage conflict effectively
• Identifying and working with active and passive behaviors
• Using conflict to build team cohesiveness
• Managing our emotions
January 21st: Teambuilding - Working with Teams (in-person)
• Understanding traits of successful and unsuccessful teams
• Build a cooperative team environment
• Distinguish between different working styles
• Discuss strategies for dealing with difficult team members
January 28th: Coaching Basics (live-streamed)
• Set clear goals
• Implement “pull” techniques instead of “push”
• Adjust coaching to match behaviors
• 4 Step process to accountability
• Delivering effective feedback
January 14th: Mentoring Workshop (live-streamed)
