Description
The Meridian Bridge Centennial Rededication on October 12th marks 100 years since the bridge first opened to the public in 1924. As the first permanent structure to connect South Dakota and Nebraska over the Missouri River, the Meridian Bridge has played a significant role in Yankton's economic and social development, fostering growth in the region.
This celebration in the Meridian District will feature honorary speakers, food, drinks, live music, and a special screening of South Dakota Public Broadcasting's Dakota Life documentary, which highlights the bridge's rich history.
The event offers a unique opportunity to honor the bridge's legacy and celebrate its importance to Yankton, surrounding communities, and the state of South Dakota.
