Description
South Dakota 4-H will host the 2023 4-H State Outdoor Archery Tournament at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center (800 Archery Lane, Yankton, SD 57078) on June 3 and 4. This workshop will expose youth, parents and 4-H archery instructors to events which will be used to select South Dakota 4-H Nationals Archery team members for the 2024 team.
The event is a requirement for those wishing to make the 4-H national team, and it will: 1) Expose youth to shooting a Fédération Internationale de Tir à l’Arc (FITA) Match and a National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Field Round. 2) Provide an explanation of the courses and their rules, as well as an opportunity to practice. 3) Offer an opportunity to practice, then a tournament to allow for skill development.
The tournament will have four divisions per archery style (recurve and compound): Beginner (4-H ages 8 to 10 as of Jan. 1, 2021), Junior (ages 11 to 13), Senior (ages 14 to 18) and Adult (ages 19+). Event rules for the senior age class can be found on the 4-H National Event website under event synopsis.
