Add some sparkle to your holiday season! The Dakota Dance Association of Yankton, SD will be presenting Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Ballet” at the Yankton High School Theatre, 1801 Summit Street, Yankton. Attend an evening performance (7:00pm) on November 20 or take in a matinee (2pm) on November 20 & 21.
Over 100 local cast members ranging in from 1st grade to adult will be performing in this year’s production. The Highlight of this year’s performance are the debut of the Mouse Queen, and updated costumes for various roles to this classic story which will transport you from a holiday gathering of friends through the snow country and on to the Kingdom of Sweets where wonderful things to eat and drink come alive.
Dakota Dance Association is excited to bring this holiday tradition back to the community after having to postpone because of the Global Pandemic. They welcome back director Linda Haar, choreographer Dorota Dannenbring and a large group of volunteers behind the scenes. Linda Haar is a Yankton College Theatre graduate who has directed over 80 shows primarily at Bon Homme High School and Lewis and Clark Theatre Company. Dorota Dannenbring is a graduate of the Conservatory of Dance in Warsaw, Poland and has been a dance instructor in Yankton for 25 years.
Tickets go on sale for the public during the Harvest Halloween from 12-2pm at 3rd & Walnut. Tickets are on sale at the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2407 Broadway Ave. during rehearsals, please see the Dakota Dance Facebook page for rehearsal and ticket sales schedule.
In addition, tickets will be available at the door 1 hour prior to each performance.
