Travel Specialist

Travel Specialist

Join Our Team and Build a Career in the Travel Industry!

We are a growing travel business looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and dependable Travel Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, learning new things, and having a variety of responsibilities rather than doing the same task day after day.

As a small business, everyone on our team wears multiple hats. That means your days will be varied, you’ll be involved in a wide range of projects, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn how different aspects of our business work.

We believe in compensating our team generously once they are trained, confident, and productive in the role. There is a significant learning curve in the travel industry, and becoming proficient can take six months or more. We are looking for someone who is willing to make that investment in themselves and grow into a valuable, long-term member of our team.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide exceptional, personalized customer service to travelers
  • Promote and sell our wide variety of exciting travel destinations and experiences
  • Make travel bookings and reservations by phone and email
  • Communicate with clients, suppliers, and travel partners professionally and efficiently
  • Respond to company emails and phone calls
  • Assist with bulk mailings, marketing projects, and other administrative tasks
  • Maintain accurate records and information
  • Assist with a variety of office and business projects as needed
  • Learn new systems, destinations, products, and processes as you grow in the position
  • Take on additional responsibilities as your knowledge and experience develop

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Friendly, professional, and genuinely enjoys helping people
  • Comfortable communicating by phone and email
  • Able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • A quick learner who is willing to embrace a substantial learning curve
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
  • Computer proficient and able to learn new software and systems
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and a variety of daily responsibilities

Helpful — But Not Required

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Travel agency, tourism, hospitality, or customer service
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Marketing or promotional materials
  • Bookkeeping or basic accounting
  • Office administration

If you have bookkeeping experience, please be sure to mention it in your application. While it is not required, it could provide opportunities for additional responsibilities within our business.

Compensation & Growth

Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.

We are a small business, and we take compensation seriously. While the initial training period is focused on learning our business, systems, destinations, and procedures, our goal is to generously increase compensation as you become trained, productive, and capable of taking on greater responsibility.

The travel industry has a substantial learning curve, and it may take six months or more to become fully comfortable and productive in the position. We are looking for someone who sees that learning period as an investment in building a rewarding career — not simply a temporary job.

For the right person, there is significant opportunity to grow with us.

Why You’ll Enjoy This Job

If you like variety, this is a great environment for you.

You won't spend every day doing the exact same thing. One day you may be helping a client plan an unforgettable vacation, while the next you could be working on a marketing project, communicating with a travel supplier, preparing a mailing, or helping with an administrative project.

It’s fast-paced, interesting, people-oriented, and rewarding — and you’ll have the opportunity to learn something new almost every day.

Interested?

If you're organized, personable, computer-savvy, eager to learn, and excited about the travel industry, we'd love to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and tell us a little about yourself, including any experience you have with travel, customer service, administration, Adobe products, Excel, Outlook, or bookkeeping.
