Yankton Community Library Receives National Grant for Small and Rural Libraries to Improve
The Yankton Community Library is excited to have been selected as one of 240 libraries to participate in Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. Staff Training and Memorial Day Closures
The Yankton Community Library will be closed on Friday, May 26 for staff training. The library will be open regular hours (9am-5pm) on Saturday, May 27 before being closed for the Memorial Day holiday. When Ben Hanten opened Ben’s Brewing Co. in 2005, there was not much demand from residents for craft beers or even knowledge regarding them.“I wanted to make craft beer interesting and create a culture around it,” he said. “Today, there is definitely a demand for and knowledge of craft beer in Yankton.” Hanten has grown with that demand, opening a second Yankton location on May 30, called Ben’s Brew Station, at the former Freeman Company building, about a half mile north of the downtown location.
