MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING INTERN
TWO Internship Positions
(Summer of 2024 | May - August)
Location:  Yankton, SD

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Interns will work with the Manufacturing Engineers on quality and process improvement projects. Job responsibilities that will include 5-S/Lean events, time studies, develop work instructions, line balancing, material flow improvements and documentation of processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Detailed job instructions are as follows:
  • 5-S / Lean Event
    • Go through workstation, identify and document tools required, put up shadow boards, remove carts and tools not required
    • Develop and implement labeling system for tools
  • Time Studies
    • Time study large components for paint
    • Develop metrics of rails per machine to calculate through-put and manpower for paint as production rates change
    • Time study and document touch up process for each product
    • Time study all large weldments (frames, lift arms, booms, QT’s, Dynattaches, carriages)
    • Update manpower calculations based on new time observations
    • Time study robots
  • Develop work instructions for sequence critical weldments or as required
  • Update master facility layouts and cell layouts as required using AutoCAD
  • Material handling equipment design
    • Create or modify in 3D CAD racks or carts to improve efficiencies of WIP transfer
  • Weld Fixturing equipment design
    • Create in 3D CAD weld fixturing equipment
  • Develop and participate in corrective action process to report defects
  • Develop work instructions for sequence critical weldments
  • Participate with New Product Development processes for quality at the source of manufacturing
